A general election is held every three years to elect trustees to the Yukon Francophone School Board. The last general election was held on October 3, 2016.
The next general election will be held November 4, 2019.
To vote in a Yukon Francophone School Board election, you must be a Canadian citizen, at
least 18 years old and have French Language rights under Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
You must also have lived in the Yukon for at least three months before polling day or be a parent of a child attending the schools.
If you are an eligible elector who will be unable to vote on polling day, the Education Act allows mail-in ballots under certain situations.
These include infirmity, hospitalization, absence from the education area, confinement to a correctional center, hours of employment,
or appointment as a deputy returning officer or poll clerk.
Application must be made, and completed ballots returned, to the returning officer before the close of the polls on polling day.

First, you must be an eligible elector to be a candidate (see above for definition of eligible elector).
You must file a completed nomination paper with the Returning Officer. (See the question below the question: Where are candidate packages available including nomination papers?)
You may not be nominated or elected as a member of a school board if you are ineligible to become a member unless,
with your nomination paper, you file a statement of ineligibility and divest the ground for ineligibility within 30 days after polling day.
The Candidate Nomination Period is Monday, October 7 to Thursday, October 24. Nominations must be submitted before noon
on Thursday, October 24.
The completed nomination paper must include the signatures of three (3) nominating electors who are
eligible electors for École Émilie-Tremblay education area.

Trustees of the school board role is to establish policies for the administration, management and operation of their
schools (École Émilie-Treblay and Académie Parhélie). They provide educational programs for their students as required
by the Education Act.
