Yukon Francophone School Board By-Election – Monday, May 29, 2017

A by-election will be held to elect one trustee to the Yukon Francophone School Board.

You must be an eligible elector to vote, or to participate as a candidate, in the Francophone School Board by-election. To be eligible, you must have language rights under Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In addition, as of polling day, you must be:

  • at least 18 years of age, and
  • a Canadian citizen, and
  • resident in the education area (Yukon) for at least three months OR have a child attending Émilie-Tremblay School.

Nomination papers are available at Émilie-Tremblay School, the Yukon Francophone School Board at Elections Yukon in the Yukon Government Main Administration Building or from Julie Ménard, Returning Officer (332-3664). Candidates are encouraged to file nomination papers well in advance of the deadline by contacting the Returning Officer at 332-3664.

Nomination papers must be filed with the Returning Officer, Julie Ménard, before noon on nomination day (Thursday, May 18, 2017). The Returning Officer will be at Elections Yukon on Thursday, May 18 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and noon, to receive nomination papers. The Education Act prohibits the Returning Officer from accepting nomination papers after that time.

The names of candidates will be posted after nominations close on May 18, 2017.

Voting will take place at Émilie-Tremblay School on Falcon Drive, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017.
